Transferring your personalised plate to another vehicle is straightforward when you follow the DVLA's process.

Before You Transfer

Both vehicles must be registered with the DVLA and meet certain conditions before a plate transfer can take place.

• Both vehicles must be taxed or declared SORN.
• The receiving vehicle must be in your name or business name.
• You cannot assign a plate that makes the vehicle appear newer than it is.
• Transfer fee is £80, payable to the DVLA.

Completing the Transfer

Once the application is approved, the new V5C will show the new registration, and you can order updated plates.

• Application can be done online or by post.
• You must display the new plates as soon as the DVLA confirms.
• Notify your insurer of the new registration immediately.
